Centre for Bioinformatics — Pondicherry University
The Centre for Bioinformatics at Pondicherry University, established in 1991, has grown into a leading academic and research hub in computational biology, biotechnology and life sciences.
It offers a range of programs including B.Sc. (Hons) Bioinformatics, M.Sc. Bioinformatics, M.Tech Computational Biology, and Ph.D. research, with strong focus areas such as genomics, proteomics, structural biology, systems biology, and drug design.
The department is headed by Dr. R. Krishna, an accomplished structural biologist specializing in protein crystallography, molecular modeling and computational biophysics. Under his leadership, the centre promotes interdisciplinary training and innovation in modern biological research.
The centre’s academic environment has shaped many successful researchers and bioinformatics professionals, including Ashok, whose work and contributions reflect the institution’s strong foundation in computational life sciences.
